This innovative project partners seniors in an extended care facility with children in a therapeutic nursery program. The planned social interactions will help the children begin to form stable and consistent relationships and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation for both groups.

In 2001, FOUNDATIONS was awarded a J&J/RCI Caregivers Program Grant for their innovative "Generations" program partnering after-school children with nursing home residents and their caregivers in intergenerational activities to enhance the quality of life for all participants. A customized curriculum was developed during the project year. The success of that program was the impetus for changing the focus of this year's grant competition to intergenerational caregiving.
