On The Need to Invest in Caregivers "Typically, caregivers are viewed as expendable resources in systems of care. As a result, caregivers are overlooked, ill-prepared and ultimately burnt-out. To reverse this paradigm we promote a view that family, professional and para-professional caregivers are the most valuable asset in any system of care to be cultivated, preserved, developed and valued. Our approach is to emphasize strategic investments in caregiver support programs; programs that build caregiver skills and protect their health." Rick Birkel, RCI Executive Director Caregiver Certificate Program Georgia Southwestern State University, home of the Rosalynn Carter Institute on Caregiving, now offers a Caregiving Specialist Certificate specifically focused on training leaders to overcome “the Caregiving Crisis” in America.
