About Shirley Loflin

Shirley Loflin was born and educated in Charlotte, North Carolina, and presently resides in Americus, Georgia, where she writes caregiving articles for the Rosalynn Carter Institute's website. She participates in numerous projects promoting respite, and works to encourage a better understanding of caregiving needs.

A member of First United Methodist Church and a past mentor for children in the Americus School System, Shirley is active in community outreach. Shirley served as a member of the leadership council for the West Central Georgia Caregiver's Network. She has completed caregiver leadership training through the Caring for You, Caring for Me: Education and Support Program, developed and offered by the RCI.

In 2005, Shirley was elected to the Board of Directors of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving at Georgia Southwestern State University.

A series of family illnesses thrust Shirley into the caregiver role, where she has become a compassionate advocate for all caregivers. Shirley is available to speak to organizations about the caregiving issues facing us today.
