Betty Pope

Betty Pope lives in Americus, Georgia, and is very supportive of Georgia Southwestern State University and The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving. Among her support she and her late husband created the Pope Scholar and Pope Fellowships as well as the Pope Eminent Scholar Position.

She is a life Trustee of Georgia Southwestern State Universities Foundation and past chairperson. She is also active in the community as a volunteer - serving on the Board of trustees for Magnolia Manor, Board of Directors of Sumter Bank and Trust, in Americus; supporter of Habitat for Humanity, working on many building projects and also a former board member of Sumter County Initiative, an arm of Habitat for Humanity. Betty was a former board member of Plains Historic Preservation and Junior Service League. Betty is also a supporter of South Georgia Technical College. She is involved with and a supporter of The Fuller Center for Housing.

Betty has two daughters and one son-in law and four grandchildren who live in Florida and enjoys visiting and traveling with her families.
