Helping Hands is an innovative community based project to improve the quality of life for families who are caring for their child who has physical or intellectual disabilities or other special needs. Mature volunteers (55 years and older) are matched with families to provide them with in-home support.

Their Across the Generations project focuses on education and support for young children and teens who are caregivers now. The project will provide specific tools to educate young children and teens, address and alleviate their fears associated with illness, dying, and death; and reduce their stress.

Their Empathy in Action program will teach empathy, communication techniques and basic caregiving skills to children ages 6-12 enrolled in an after-school intensive outpatient program. It will aslo teach seniors about issues affecting today's youth, skills for communicating with the younger generation, and information on the cognitive and physical challenges of aging.
