Research Interests and Current Projects:
Dr. Lorion's research and writing focuses on the identification of factors that place children and youth at risk for emotional, behavioral and academic problems. His research has examined epidemiological factors related to learning disorders, alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and community violence. Research on risk factors has informed the design, implementation and evaluation of community-based preventive interventions. Dr. Lorion has written extensively on conceptual, methodological and policy issues related to prevention science and practice in the mental health disciplines. Dr. Lorion's current work focuses on understanding the nature and consequences of pervasive community violence and developing comprehensive intervention strategies for responding to this threat to children and their families.
