The Johnson & Johnson/Rosalynn Carter Institute Caregivers Program is pleased to announce a grant funding opportunity for non-profit community-based organizations implementing evidence-based caregiver support programs.
Funding priorities are 1) caregivers caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease and 2) Family caregivers of soldiers returning from deployment and living with traumatic brain injury (TBI), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and/or physical disability. For the purpose of this funding opportunity, applicants must choose to implement one of the following evidence-based caregiver programs:
Five total grants will be selected; 4 RCI REACH translations and 1 Wounded Warrior Family Caregiver Program translation. Two phases for supportive grant implementation over a three (3) year period will be utilized for a total of $150,000 at each site:
Phase I – Formative
Length: 8 months
Suggested Activities: hiring staff, creating work plans, designing realistic framework for intervention, identifying communication and dissemination plans to be conducted during and after the grant period, begin training and certification process of staff
Suggested Funding: 25% of total funding ($37,500)
Phase II - Length: total of 28 months divided into two parts/time periods
1. Part One: Implementation (10 months): period when grantees initiate the implementation of the project as outlined and planned in Phase I. Suggested activities: continue training and certification process of staff, recruitment and enrollment of participants, active implementation of program
2. Part Two: Implementation/Wrap Up (18 months): period of which 10 months focuses on continued implementation and 8 months on wrap up activities such as finalizing and analyzing data from implementation phase, gathering lessons learned from grant opportunity, communicating and disseminating results
Written reports are submitted bimonthly for each part with site visits to each as needed.
Suggested Funding: 75% of total funding ($112,500 divided equally Part One and Two)
Application Process
In lieu of a standard grant application process, sites will be chosen after applicants complete a series of 3 technical assistance webinars aimed at increasing agency and community capacity to successfully deliver the program with fidelity. At least one agency staff member must attend all 3 webinars. Homework assignments will be made after webinars 1 and 2 and will be turned in to RCI electronically by assigned dates. In addition to screening for readiness, we will also be screening for programs targeted underserved populations.
