RCI Mourns Loss of Founding Board Member

The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving has lost one of it's founding board members, Dr. Tom Bryant.

The statement below by Mrs. Carter reflects their very long and warm association. Dr. Bryant had been a close advisor directly to Mrs. Carter on virtually all of her major program activities through the years.

STATEMENT BY FORMER FIRST LADY ROSALYNN CARTER ON THE PASSING OF TOM BRYANT

Jimmy and I are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Tom Bryant. He was a trusted advisor to me for many years as we worked to improve our nation's mental health services and end the terrible stigma against mental illnesses that prevented so many people from seeking help. His leadership as chair of the President's Commission on Mental Health was pivotal to our success in passing the Mental Health Systems Act of 1980. His life-long work made a positive difference for millions of people suffering from mental illnesses.
