The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI) at Georgia Southwestern State University will be awarding Carter Academic-Service Entrepreneur Grants this spring for service projects that can be conducted from March 1 through August 31, 2008 in the Americus / Sumter County region.
The $1,000 Academic-Service grants, are administered by the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation, and sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The RCI is serving as host for the grants awarded to Georgia Southwestern State University students.
The funds will be awarded to GSW students who are working in partnership with a community non-profit organization on a community-service project related to the student’s studies. The RCI grants will be used to support innovative student projects that help build supports for individuals with chronic illnesses, disabilities or limitations of aging AND/OR their caregivers.
Applicants for this award must
be a full-time student at Georgia Southwestern State University
propose an innovative academic service learning project
recruit a community organization as partner and
have a faculty member agree to oversee the project.

if awarded the grant, keep a running account of project activities for the project summary report, which must be submitted at the end of the project
On the web site, applicants will be asked to register. After registration, the applicant will be sent a User ID to access the online application. Students should select the Rosalynn Carter Institute host site. Students should view the online application, read the questions asked, and formulate the answers to these questions. This application page may be saved and edited before finalizing for submission. Deadline to submit the online application is February 15, 2008.
